December

Christmas is coming and I have very little
time to visit my allotment. The two days that I did get there however
the light was beautiful. Below is a small selection. |

Throughout December a pair of Pheasants
became regular visitors. The female was very timid and never came out
into the open but the male was happy to oblige. Looking magnificent
in his finest breeding plumage the colours dazzled in the sun. |

Sadly my Nuthatches are still very timid
and will not come to the feeders. In fact I hardly ever see or hear
them. One long range shot on a tree at the back of the allotment was
the best I could manage. |

Visits both days also give distant views
of feeding Bullfinches. They appear to be feeding on the late raspberries
that are left. Too wary to get close to I had to be content with a long
range shot without sun! Still it was good to have a record shot of them
being there as they used to be very rare here. |

I was also thrilled when two Bramblings
made an appearance. A male and female mixed with a flock of Chaffinches.
Sadly they were not photographable so yet again another record shot.
