2008 - "and so they return" |
| |
|
| |
After an absense of almost a week the Nuthatches
seemed to be waiting for me today with some impatience. I could hear
them calling as soon as I arrived and immediatly saw them both sitting
in their favourite tree with an expression that almost said "Where
have you been? We are hungry!" So being the dutiful host that I
am I put out their food and was in return treated to a good long spell
in their magical company. It was so good to see them back. |

The birds are certainly in
a frisky mood today. Much chasing, displaying and calling is going on.
This gorgeous male Blackbird was in hot pursuit of a female who had
been sat in the same spot only seconds before. |

Naturally the robins and tits
are much more reliable and are getting bolder by the day. The robins
are now also starting to follow me around whilst I dig. |

And whilst they started out very wary in
the winter the Greattits have become very bold too and often dont even
wait for me to leave the feeders before coming down to feed. I beleive
that birds can truely recognise people. My son also came to the plot
today and even when he was taking photographs from the car they were
very wary and did not approach like they do for me. Some lovely light
today. |
