27th 2007 - "A new visitor" |
| |
The weather this week has been superb,
warm and sunny with just a light breeze. Since last Friday the council
had been in chopping down the woodpeckers favourite tree and all the
noise from the chainsaws and shredders had frightened all the birds
away. The tits were especially active today. |

|
Several long tailed tits were
around but again despite trying to lure them with fat balls they did
not come in. I did manage to wary a couple of greattuts though and usually
they are very wary. Was very pleased to get some decent shots of them
today. |

Plenty of female chaffinches came in but
males were sparse. The only male that came close came in after my battery
had gone flat and so an opportunity was missed. |

|
Was delighted to get a new visitor today.
Jays can often be seen around but are very wary and dont come close.
Today a pair showed interest and one was brave enough twice to come
and sit on the back fence. He looked very interested in what was on
offer. I do hope he returns. |

The male greenfinch was once
again calling and displaying. He flew onto the table briefly but again
he was too wary tolet me photograph him. I had to be content with photographing
him from a distance. |

|
| |
The nuthatches were also busy feeding though
today they favoured the table. In the shot below the bird froze in the
classic nuthatch pose for quite some time. |

and you cant end the day without photographing
a robin. They just look so lovely in the sunshine! |
