small world" |

Once again with an absence
of small birds around to photograph I decided to focus on dragonflies
and insects. It was a warm but breezy day (not ideal for macro photography)
and I thought there would be plenty of subjects on which to point my
lens. I guess I couldnt really complain there were certainly plenty
of dragonflies but there wasnt the range of species that I had hoped
for. |

Once again I had the Common
darters landing on my arm. Indeed they were landing on me constantly
even as I was trying to photograph others. They also seemed to enjoy
sitting on the barb wire fence. Their strike rate for catching flies
is amazing and it wasnt long before he was seen munching on the main
course. |

All around the sound of the
Common field grasshopper was evident. This is the sound made by the
male trying to attract a female and it is amazing how variable in colour
they can be. |

| As beautiful as these insects are after a couple of hours I was yearning to photograph something a little different. This meant I really had to start looking deeper into the undergrowth..... | ||
