"Under
cover " |
| |
Time is running out for the
Black swans and even though the weather is very grim I still go up every
day to see what is happening. The birds are still sitting and it looks
like the heavens are going to open at any minute. Today I am watching
them from the other side of the lake. The blue of the break packet comtrast
well with the red of the swans though sadly is testiment to the hundred
weight of bread that is throw to the ducks every week. |

| The female came
over to say hello. Both birds are very tame. |

Close by to where
the swans are nesting I spot a juvenile Grey heron. It is quite a timid
bird and is slowly stalking in the shallows. I decide to follow him
but as I do it starts to steadily rain. I so hate this countrys weather.
He stands under the trees, also taking shelter from the rain. |

The juvenile wasnt the only
one to take shelter that day. When the rain came heavier I took cover
under a kindly fishermans umbrella and watched the birds as I stayed
dry. From a very dark horizon came a huge skein of Canada geese, probably
from Clifton marina. Maybe 50+ birds, honking and making alot of noise
as they descended onto the lake behind me. A kingfisher also whizzed
passed me calling as I sat. I dont normally see these about until the
winter and I saw it in the same place the day after so great to see. |
