"Waiting"

Sparrowhawk

It is nearing the end of the incubation period for both the Black swans and the Great crested grebes. The weather is incredibly dull and they have had to sit through some pretty bad thunder storms and heavy rain. All now is calm and still looking good with both families still sitting tight. All birds are sleeping so I left them to it and went to see what else i could find.

The Mute swans seem pretty restless today. Without reason a dozen birds at a time would just up and fly to the other side of the lake with much squabbling and pulling of wings.

Plenty of Black headed Gulls around now with many juveniles in various stages of plumage. The adults have already lost their black heads and are now in winter non breeding plumage.

One juvenile Coot having a really good preen caught my attention. Very cute. Sadly today there is very little around but interestingly my eye was caught by a pair of legs. Sat down on the wooden walk way I was on eye level with the Canada geese and I thought their legs were just calling out to be photographed. Sometimes you can find inspiration in the strangest of places. Maybe it is not for everyone but it is a style of photography I would like to do more of.
