"Heron
watch " |
| |

The last few days have been
quite wet with there being no change with the Black swans or the Grebes.
The number of Grey Herons has increased with there being several adults
and a juvenile around. One adult Heron was sat on the wooden platform
from where I watch the Black swans. Watching people approach from the
other direction I knew the bird would be spooked and fly right passed
me. So I set up my camera and waited and hoped for a series of flight
shots. I am glad to say that for once the bird performed just how I
wanted him to. |

Taking a walk up
by t he canal we came across the juvenile Heron. He is very tame and
gave my 10 year old son Simon a great opportunity to take some photos
of him. The following two photos were taken by Simon though edited by
myself for him. |

One day whilst laid on the
wooden platform looking into the water my daughter found a fish louse
swimming in the water. It is 5mm long and almost toally flat. It is
such a remarkable creature I photographed it from a coffee cup with
my macro lens. I thought I would share it here. |
