Ok time to take
myself round to the other side of the lodge to view the raft with the
sun behind me. Any intelligent photographer would tell you thats the
sensible thing to do anyway but the view is blocked by too much vegetation
and you get very wet feet trying to get close. Didnt seem to be too
much of a problem today though as even before I got any where near the
adult birds took to the air and started to dive bomb me. A sure sign
that the chicks will be fledging soon. The bird in the photo below also
decided to try and leave his calling card as he came for me. |

Trying to capture
all the birds up in the air at once is impossible with my shallow depth
of field but I managed to capture two in the shot below which I quite
liked.

Round this side the light is
alittle better and the effects and colours in the sky are quite striking.
Didnt get the close ups I wanted today as my camera wouldnt focus that
well but no matter. I quite like the compositions I did make. |

Standing watching the terns
I noticed a male Reed bunting flitting around the bush. He had a nest
overhanging the water and posed for me very nicely nearby. I will be
back very soon to watch the Common terns fledge. |
