There are quite alot of Shelduck
ducklings around. Many out on the mere and in the park. Had to wait
a while though before any came near enough to do them justice. The waters
today were dark and murky and not very appealing so I wanted them fairly
close. |

Most ducklings that
are not Mallards are raised in the nursery but today I found a pair
of Pochard ducklings on one of the smaller back ponds. |

Also noticed a pair of Lesser
white fronted Geese goslings. Geese seem to have less of a success rate
breeding than the ducks. Maybe their nests are harder to find in places
and predation is higher. |

and as well as the birds some
of the plants provided opportunities for some interestng compositions
too. Never neglect the bigger picture I say! |
