The Pink feet of Martinmere page 2 |
There are few wildlife spectacles that
really stick in my mind quite like the pink feet of Martinmere. Watching
skein after skein drop in is amazing enough but watching thousands of
geese suddenly startled by a passing tractor and all lift off together
is truely spectacular. The clap of thousands of pairs of wings along
with their startled calls is quite deafening. How they avoid flying
into each other is anyones guess. It is truely a marvel of aviation
navigation. |

The pink feet stay as a very large flock
and can be seen circling round in the distance. Once they have calmed
down the majority make their way back and land on the mere once more
where I can sit and enjoy their beauty once more. |
