A visit to Southern Ireland in July 06
produced this lifer, the Black Guillemot. Amazing little birds they
nest in harbour walls and fish for some kind of flat worm. Photographing
them on a bright day produces an exposure nightmare as their white wing
flashes shine out like a beacon. Also to pick out any detail in their
black faces you have to have the light in your favour. Being a great
fan of flight photos I therefore decided to set myself the greater challenge
of capturing these black bullets in flight and what fun I had trying! |
