Barrow, Lancs November 2008 - Whilst waiting
for a flock of waxwings to appear I noticed a pair of Mistlethrushes
hanging around and calling out in alarm. Mistlethrushes are very territorial
and aggressive when it comes to food and will persistently protect trees
stuffed with berries. Many times they drove off the Waxwings but that
afternoon they turned their aggression out on each other. They fought
in the air, claws out locked together for a good couple of minutes.
This behaviour has rarely been seen before so I was very lucky to catch
it. |
