"Paniced Pochard"

Martinmere December 2008 - Pochard are like the Red Arrows of the avian world. Precision fliers they fly tight and in wonderful formations, fast and very direct. Today there was a Sparrowhawk repeatedly scaring the Pochards up and they flew many times from lake to lake. I am still trying to get a decent flock shot that shows their colours off to their best but all too often they are flying from the direction of the sun. That is life. You have to work with what you have.
