Mere sands wood May 2009 and a single pair of Tufted ducks fly in. I had watched them approach and was annoyed with myself for having not photographed them as conditions were ideal. A good clear sky with a late afternoon soft light would have made shots of this duck easier. This is one of my bogey birds with no individuals ever coming close enough. So an hour later when the male decided to fly out leaving the female behind I was ready for him.
