A small woodland butterfly that once rare
is now becoming much more common and widespread. Individuals rarely
live longer than 10 days but whilst the weather is warm they are continually
brooded. This is a unique butterfly as the caterpiller or chrysallis
has the ability to overwinter. Both sexes feed on aphid honeydew. The
caterpillers feed on Cock's-foot (Dactylis glomerata) and other grasses.
