A rare breeder in this country this small
robin sized bird has adapted to live at the heart of industrial and
urban centres. Fewer than 100 pairs it has been found breeding at power
stations, railway stations, disused factories, building sites, old quarries
and cliffs. Small winter populations tend to be found in more coastal
areas and in open country along cliffs, sheltered beaches, ploughed
fields and gardens. Its diet consists of insects, spiders, worms, berries
and seeds. Spring migrants return in March or April. |
