Brambling Fringilla montifringilla |
A bird very similar to our resident chaffinch
but which during the summer months breeds in the extreme north of Europe.
A highly gregarious winter visitor it can be found in huge flocks, often
mixed in with chaffinches. found near beech woodland and farm fields
with woodland nearby. Its diet consists of seeds in winter; insects
in summer. Influxes of these birds varies enormously depending on the
amount of food available at their breeding grounds. |
