The smallest of all wildfowl this domestic
duck is thought to have originated from the East Indies in the 18th
century. Easy to train and with a very noisy call (hence the name) these
ducks were originally used as decoys for attracting and catching other
waterfowl. Today their small size and tameness has made them a very
popular domestic breed that is widely bred for showing. There are many
different varieties. The photos below show just one of them. |
