Chinese Goose

(Anser cygnoides)

Domesticated from the Swan Goose in Central Siberia over 2,000 years ago, the Chinese Goose is the smallest of all domestic geese. It can be found in 2 forms, the bright and the white. Its main diet consists of grass and weeds and as a result it is often used for weeding purposes. Its aggressive nature and loud vocals also makes it an excellent "guard dog" The females are slightly smaller with a less prominent knob on the bill. It is considered one of the best egg laying geese producing 40-100eggs a year.
