Streptopelia decaocto

Introduced into the UK in the 1950s this dove is smaller than the Wood Pigeon and is found commonly just about everywhere. Found in urban areas either in pairs or in larger groups where food is plentiful. Its diet consists mainly of cereals and small seeds taken on the ground but will also eat berries in the autumn. Both sexes look alike. Height 31-33cms
