Also known as the Eurasian Crane this
species breeds in northern parts of Europe and western Asia. During
the winter months it can be found in southern Spain and Africa. Like
with many species it can been seen flying in large V formations. For
several centuries this bird has been extict from the UK but recently
a new population has been breeding again in the Norfolk Broads. With
luck they can be seen feeding on open fields in the Horsey and Hickling
areas. Its favoured breeding habitat can be found on large areas of
marsh and bog. Its diet consists of insects, small birds and mammals.
