With their long tails these birds also
have the old name of "sea swallow". Masters of the skies these
silver grey birds are superior fliers. Very noisy birds they often breed
in colonies on shingle beaches, rocky islands and saltmarshes along
coasts, at gravel pits and on artificial rafts on lakes and reservoirs.
UK birds spend winter in coastal regions off the coast of West Africa.
It feeds on a diet almost exclusivley of fish. |
