This is the largest and certainly the most spectacular
of the cranes that are kept at Martinmere. From east Africa the largest
concentrations are found in marshes and grassy flatlands near to rivers
and lakes. They are a gregarious bird often living in large family parties
feeding on a diet of plants, seeds, , insects, frogs, and small aquatic
creatures. |
