Dunlin

(Calidris alpina)

A very common small wader found along the UK coast. During the breeding months it can be found on wetland moors where it has a black breast. In winter it can be found in very large flocks, sometimes thousands strong on fields and saltmarshes along the coast. It lives on a diet of insects, snails and worms.
