Seen below in its summer breeding plumage the
Great Crested Grebe is one of our most elegant and exotic looking waterbirds.
Even in the winter months when his colourful feathers are changed for
a more drab appearance there is no mistaking its slender body and long
tapered beak for anything remotely ducklike. |

numbers on inland lakes during this time. |
