Seen below in its summer breeding plumage the
Great Crested Grebe is one of our most elegant and exotic looking waterbirds.
Even in the winter months when his colourful feathers are changed for
a more drab appearance there is no mistaking its slender body and long
tapered beak for anything remotely ducklike. |

The Great crested grebe can look just as
beautiful in their winter plumage. You will see them gathered in larger
numbers on inland lakes during this time. |
