Also known as the common diver this is
the UKS largest Diver. Found here mainly in the winter months this bird
breeds in Canada, Alaska, the northern United States, Greenland and
Iceland. In the winter they can be found on coastal waters and bays
and sometimes inland on large lakes and reservoirs. Most of the birds
that visit the UK are from Iceland. They arrive here in late August
and return in April and May. Their diet consists of fish and crustaceans.
