Greattit (Parus Major)
One of our commonest and widespread resident tits. Nesting in nest boxes and holes in walls or trees it can be found anywhere there are trees. A common visitor to the garden and to the bird table where it will take a wide variety of foods.. Will also show off its acrobatic skills at the bird feeder. Can be aggressive to smaller tits and in some areas can be very bold. I have had them readily come to within 5 feet and in some areas they will feed from the hand. Its repetitve two tone mating call, I think is one of the first harbingers of spring. A very colourful bird with the male being brighter coloured and having a broader stripe down his chest.
