Greenshank

Tringa nebularia

A medium sized slim wader with long green legs and a slightly upturned bill. Often seen in the company of Red shank as lone birds or in small groups. Breed in the north and west of Scotland on boggy moors. During the winter months they can be found on wetland habitats close to the coast though also inland. Many birds can be seen on passage to Africa. They live on a diet of worms, snails and fish.
