A sub species of the european teal this bird
is more commonly found extensively in North America with only a small
number of vagrant birds showing up in the UK during the winter months.
A gregarious bird it is easily identified by its distinctive markings
and small size 13-16". The green winged Teal is identified from
the European species by the white vertical strip down the side of the
body. Commonly found on salt marshes and shallow lakes where it feeds
on a diet of aquatic plants, seeds and insects.
