Grey Wagtail

Motacilla cinerea

A bird that has dramatically increased its range within the UK over the last 100 years to take in both upland and lowland habitats. Found on fast flowing rivers and streams in rural and urban areas. A largely resident species though will move to lower ground during the winter months. They feed on a diet of insects. They will also take water snails and tadpoles from shallow water. Length 18-20cm.
