Indian Spotbill

(Anas poecilorhyncha)

Also known as the Grey duck this dabbling duck is a common breeding resident of freshwater lakes and marshes in fairly open country of India, whereever there is thick emergent vegetation. This vegetation it uses for nesting in, with feeding usually taking place in the evening or during the night. A social bird it is often found in pairs. They breed from July-September. Length 60cms.
