The smallest of our crows easily recognisable
by its grey neck and piercing pale blue eyes. A highly sociable resident
bird it is found in both rural and urban areas where there are woodland,
parks and gardens with areas of grassland nearby to feed on. Naturally
a tree nester this bird has also learnt to adapt to life in towns by
nesting on top of roofs and chimneys. During the winter it spends more
time in stubble and ploughed fields feeding on a diet of insects, seeds
and scraps. Second only to the Jay I think this is one of our prettiest
crows and is a great bird to photograph. |
