Magpie goose

(Anseranas semipalmata)

This goose has to be the wierdest looking of all the waterfowl. The face of the Magpie goose has an almost prehistoric look to it and makes for some fascinating close ups. This goose is native to north and eastern Australia where it can be found in marshes, swamps and lagoons feeding on a diet of aquatic vegetation. It is a gregarious bird found in large flocks outside the breeding season.
