A resident to the UK this is one of the
commonest songbirds found in upland areas, moors, heathland, fens, grassland
and coastal marshes. Its high piping call and parachuting display flight
are common sights during the breeding season. In winter they move to
lower ground preferring ploghed farmland and pastures where they can
be found in small groups. It feeds on a diet of insects, beetles,moths
and spiders. can be confused with the Tree pipit which has a thicker
beak, shorter hind claw and is more Tawny in colour. |
