Incubation takes 35 days when all the cygnets will hatch out together. Life is difficult for a young cygnet as there are many predators such as pike and gulls that will take them. Adult swans can be very aggressive when they have cygnets and protect them from many dangers but still many are lost.
 
 
 
The cygnets in the photo below are the same ones as above. They are 3 weeks old.
