Orinoco goose

(Neochen jubata)

A species that is endemic to South America. Its natural habitat can be found on forest-covered banks of tropical rivers and damp clearings, wet savannas and muddy margins of large freshwater wetlands. This is a species in heavy decline mainly caused, it is thought, from the pressures of hunting. They feed mainly by grazing close to river banks. This bird rarely takes to the water and is seldom seen flying.
