Patagonian crested duck

(Lophonetta specularioides specularioides)

The breeding range of this duck is to be found throughout the Falkland Islands, Chile and Argentina. It can be found in shallow coastal regions, though in order to breed it prefers to go beyond the tidal line into tall grass. It lives on a diet of invertebrates and marine algae. The sexes are alike. This is not considered to be a threatened species.
