One of the worlds favourite birds with
a distinction all of its own.Colonial birds they breed down rabbit burrows
on offshore islands and high seacliffs. By August they will have left
their breeding site to spend the winter out at sea. Some remain in the
North Sea at winter, others move further south to the Bay of Biscay.
They live on a diet of fish, particularly sand eels though this will
vary from colony to colony depending on availablity. When seen for the
first time their small size is always a surprise. Length: 26-29cm
