A very well known resident
bird often seen in large groups. Its bare white face (caused by constant
probing in the ground) distinguishes it from its slightly smaller cousin
the carrion crow. Breeding in rookeries their preferred nesting habitat
is lowland farmland with plenty of open fields and grass with tall trees
to nest in. Can sometimes be seen feeding in small flocks alongside
the road though will not often stray into urban areas. Their diet consists
of worms, grain and insects. Length: 44-46cm. |
