Rosybill

(Netta peposaca)

This is a very shy and retiring duck that originates in Chile and Argentina to Uruguay, where it lives in shallow marshes. This bird is considered a diving duck, though it rarely dives and feeds more on plant materials than do the typical divers. It is an abundant species which is not threatened in the wild. Although it is often only called the Rosybill it is classified as a pochard.

I love to photograph the female Rosybill. I think she has one of the prettiest faces of all the brown female species.
