Ruddy headed Goose

(Chloephaga rubidiceps)

The breeding grounds of this small, dainty looking goose can be found in Chile, South America, with their migration taking them to Argentina for the winter months. Another population can also be found on the Falkland Islands. The Falklands breeding population makes up 3000 of the worlds 4000 breeding population. For reasons that are not clear the chilean population are in serious decline. Its favoured habitat is found on lowlands and grasslands. The sexes are alike.
