A widespread resident bird which is sadly
in decline. Once a common garden and farmland bird it is now rarely
seen on a regular basis. It is smaller and browner than the Mistle thrush
and is to be found in deciduous and coniferous woodland, hedgerows and
bushes. It will also breed in gardens with suitable cover. Its diet
consists of worms, fruit and snails which it breaks into by smashing
them against a stone with a flick of the head. |
