The Waxwing has to be, for me the most
striking and the most beautiful bird that visits the UK. A winter visitor
from Northern Europe it can be found anywhere there are berry-bearing
trees and bushes. A popular place is the carparks of supermarkets and
retail parks. Numbers visiting the UK varies greatly with irruptions
appearing one year and then often very few the next. Usually seen between
October to March. The birds shown below where a group of four that visited
Bolton during December 2005. |
