Whitethroat Sylvia communis |
Also known as Common whitethroat this bird
is very widespread and can be found in most places there there are hedges,
trees, woodlands and open scrub areas. Can be seen from mid-April to
early October. It winters in Africa, south of the Sahara. Its diet consists
of insects, and berries and fruit being eaten in the autumn. Its song
is a lively, hurried, scratchy warble. It is quite an easy bird to find
when it is singing with its throat shining bright on a sunny day. |
